The Good LifeThis Sunday night at SNL we are kicking off our fall series on Proverbs called "The Good Life." For a majority of their younger years, most your kids’ important choices were likely made by you, their parents. As they’re now in middle and high school, smack in the middle of the transition from childhood to adulthood, we want to come alongside you in helping your kids learn how to make wise decisions. This semester we are going to walk through the book of Proverbs and learn to walk wisely, particularly related to the following areas that are often confusing for teenagers: · What is “the good life?” · Honoring parents · Handling money · Sexual purity · Work ethic and leadership · Friendship, words, and social media. · Eating and drinking healthily · Emotional maturity/attitude/humility In the Message Bible, Eugene Peterson writes the following words in the introduction to Proverbs, “Wisdom has to do with becoming skillful in these matters. Threaded through all these items is the insistence that the way we think of and respond to God is the most practical thing we can do. In matters of everyday practicality, nothing, absolutely nothing, takes precedence over God. Proverbs concentrates on these concerns more than any other book of the Bible.” In addition to Sunday nights, we are also going to encourage your kids to journal through the book of Proverbs. We have built a schedule for them to go through all 31 chapters twice through the fall. You can download the schedule here, but we’ll also have printed copies available on Sunday night. We will be selling these SUPER COOL Proverbs journals for $5 on Sunday night. Please send cash with your child if they would like to buy one and feel free to buy another one for yourself and go through it ALONGSIDE them!
